After an arduous 5-year wait since the last mainline entry in the series,Resident Evil Requiemwill finally bring us back to where much of the story began in Raccoon City. Even if the setting of the upcomingResident Evil Requiemseems like more of a return to form compared to the past two entries in the series, it still carries on with the new direction established by its predecessors. Returning to the roots of the series after so long, a greater focus on blood-pumping horror isn’t the only thingRequiemcan improve upon fromResident Evil Village.

As if balancing both itsthird and first-person perspectivesisn’t enough forResident Evil Requiemto have on its plate, there’s also something of a divide when it comes to which style of game it should follow. WhileResident Evil’s latest protagonist isn’t likely to be backflipping or roundhouse kicking mutated zombies anytime soon, there’s still a growing demand for more of a return to form after its first-person adventures. Thankfully,Resident Evil Requiemalready seems to be incorporating the best of both worlds, but a return to Raccoon City wouldn’t feel right without one character’s return.

Ada Wong Was Originally Planned To Return In RE8

Offering A Friendly Face In The Haunting Village

As ifRequiemwasn’t already a perfect fit for Ada Wong to recreate her first stunning debut in the survival-horror series, it feels even more overdue after her cutinclusion inResident Evil Village. According to the official digital artbook, the early plans forVillagewould include a disguised Ada donning a plague doctor outfit and her crossbow fromResident Evil 6.

Ada Wong’s inclusion was eventually cut due to conflicting story directions, but that doesn’t mean the concept has to go to waste.

Rather than being a main character in the story ofVillage,Ada Wong would have simply lent a helping hand to Ethanwhile performing her own investigation into the mysterious inhabitants of the region, likely for another competing organization. Unfortunately, Ada Wong’s inclusion was eventually cut due to conflicting story directions, but that doesn’t mean the concept has to go to waste.

An Opportunity To Bring Some Characters Back To Their Origins

Even though adding Ada Wong likely would have conflicted with the isolating spirit that helps makeResident Evil Villageso memorable,Ada’s inclusion would have been a great way to tie back into the overarching story of a post-Umbrella game world. Given that very few characters have made a reappearance in a mainlineResident Evilentry for years, aside from the ever-present Chris Redfield, the series is filled with characters thatcould easily return inRequiem.

With several characters like Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine getting another chance to take the spotlight with their respective remakes,it would be a majorly missed opportunity not to have some form of reunion at Raccoon City. On top of bringing their stories full circle, a fateful reunion between the two seems even more likely thanks toRequiem’s dual-protagonist rumors. Even if we only see a small glimpse of characters like Ada Wong inResident Evil Requiem, it would be a great way to pay respects to a fan-favorite character while further expanding the series' lore.
