The developer ofBattlestar Galactica’s 2004 reboot, Ronald D. Moore, has confirmed that he’s done with the franchise for good. Moore turned the sci-fi show originated by Glen A. Larson in 1978 into one of the 21st century’s most popular and acclaimed TV series, before ending it in 2009, after four seasons, a miniseries, and two small-screen movies.
Now, the writer and producer has revealed that he believes his involvement with the franchise is definitely over. Despite working on theBattlestar GalacticaspinoffseriesCapricaafter he’d brought the main show to an end, Moore doesn’t expect to return to it again.
Speaking toScreenRant’s Joe Deckelmeier about writing anotherBattlestar Galacticarebootat San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 24, Moore seemed to have made up his mind. When asked about the possibility of being involved in such a reboot, he responded as follows:
“Under my vision? I think so. I’ve actually had conversations through the years with the powers that be at Universal, who are great people and obviously love the show and are very proud of it. And I’ve always been tempted because there’s a part of me that’s like, “Oh, that’d be great. [I could] write some vipers again and do that?” And then I wake up the next day and I go, “What, are you crazy? It’s just asking for failure.” I’m very proud of the work we did. And it was time to leave them wanting more, walk off the stage, and just say thank you.”
