Speaking toScreenRant’s Joe Deckelmeier about writing anotherBattlestar Galacticarebootat San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 24, Moore seemed to have made up his mind. When asked about the possibility of being involved in such a reboot, he responded as follows:

“Under my vision? I think so. I’ve actually had conversations through the years with the powers that be at Universal, who are great people and obviously love the show and are very proud of it. And I’ve always been tempted because there’s a part of me that’s like, “Oh, that’d be great. [I could] write some vipers again and do that?” And then I wake up the next day and I go, “What, are you crazy? It’s just asking for failure.” I’m very proud of the work we did. And it was time to leave them wanting more, walk off the stage, and just say thank you.”

What Ronald D. Moore’s Comments Mean For Another Battlestar Galactica Reboot

Moore’s Answer Appears To Be Final, But Another Revival Could Happen Without Him

AlthoughMoore has previously expressed regret about howBattlestar Galacticaended, his latest confirmation about not working on another reboot is consistent with the stance he’s always takenon this question. Ascontroversial asBattlestar Galactica’s series finalemay have been, its legacy has remained intact, which is why Moore feels that its story is best left alone.

Without his involvement, it’s hard to see aBattlestar Galacticaseries that bears any resemblance to the 2004 version being produced in the near future. Sci-fi reboots are very much in vogue, however, and it’s verypossible that NBCUniversal launches a revival spinoff of some sort regardless of Moore’s stance, since they own the IP for the franchise.
