Schedule 1’s solo developer, Tyler (founder of Tyler’s Video Game Studio), has announced the results of the game’s community vote, which was a process to let fans determine what major addition was coming to the game next. The options for the fan vote were announced withSchedule 1’s previous update, which had a few tweaks, improvements, and bug fixes to the popular title. And after this past weekend, the winner was determined by a healthy margin.

According to an update on the game’sSteamnews page, the results of the community vote have been announced, and with over 64 percent of the vote, the fans have selected rival cartels to be added to the game, suggesting players want more competition on the streets. The addition is slated for a late July release. Non-winning options featured in the previous community vote will be available as options again in the future, if your chosenSchedule 1addition did not make it through this vote, according to Tyler. In total, there were over 440,000 votes cast during the brief voting window, for the following options:

What To Expect From Schedule 1’s Rival Cartel Update

A Challenge For Veteran Players

While we don’t have a ton of information about the rival cartels update, since the fan vote just ended a few hours ago, Tyler has stated he intends for the addition to be a"mid-to-late-game"challenge. He also stated he wants to keep the game"engaging and rewarding even after you’ve got a well-established operation.“Unsurprisingly, sinceSchedule 1has seen a steady stream of updates, even when Tyler had to brieflystop development due to dental surgery, he is already hard at work on the rival cartels update.

Some fans have expressed somedisappointment withSchedule 1’s endgamein particular, so with the rival cartels being labeled as a “mid-to-late-game” addition, this seems to beTyler’s first major step towards adding challenging content, even after players' drug empires have been built. Tyler has been transparent with his audience, and with him sharing the vote count and the percentage of votes cast for the rival cartels, it seems like he is dedicated to makingSchedule 1as good as it possibly can be.

More Updates Are Coming To Schedule 1

The Game Is Far From Over

Schedule 1has been a smash hit and remains a very popular game, and with a developer as dedicated as Tyler, more updates forSchedule 1seem to always be on the way. Tyler has confirmed that the other options that weren’t selected for this fan vote, which were a Police Expansion update and a Shrooms update, would be available again in a future community vote.

Schedule 1was already in a good spot, but now that Tyler has joined forces with his community to make the game even better, it seems like fans and Tyler are both going to get what they want out of the game. It’s rare to see a developer listening this closely to their fan base, so it seems likely that all the community options will be implemented at some point, likely in addition to more options. It’s clear thatSchedule 1isn’t going anywhere at this point, so fans are probably excited about whatever comes next for the acclaimed title.
