Shaun of the Deadis fast approaching its 20th anniversary, yet Pegg revealed that fans are still asking about a sequel. Unfortunately, Pegg says a follow-up forShaun of the Deadisn’t on his to-do list. “The last thing you need isShaun of the Dead 2,” he said during aMission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Oneinterview withThe Guardian. “It’s done. Move on!”
Although there are no plans for aShaun of the Deadsequel, that doesn’t mean Pegg is done writing. Pegg has been teasing fans with anew team-up with Wrightsince 2022. Nothing has come of it yet, but Pegg says the duo has a few ideas worth exploring. However, progress on anything concrete has been slow, which Pegg mainly blames on Wright’s dog distracting them while they brainstorm. Whatever the pair writes, Pegg promises it won’t be a repeat of what they’ve already done. Pegg said of the future project, “I like the idea of pissing people off…We should just do something that no one’s expecting.”
Despite finding success together, Pegg and Wright haven’t created anything together since 2013’sThe World’s End.Some of Wright’s most recent work includesBaby DriverandLast Night at SoHo. He’s also working on a remake of the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger dystopian filmThe Running Man. Pegg, on the other hand, has several successes under his belt, most recently reprising his role in theMission Impossiblefranchise.Star Trekfans recognize Peggas the Enterprise’s resourceful engineer, Scotty.
