The modding community for the ever-popular RPGSkyrimnever ceases to amaze the game’s player-base. Modders around the world have been creating, manipulating, and adding to elements of the six-year-old game since itslaunch in 2011.
A new mod created by Haem Projects adds a new companion to the game: a BB-8 inspired Dwemer construct named Snippy. The droid features a wide variety of vocal reactions, chirping happily as it keeps the player company. In addition to Snippy serving as a lockpick and a source of light, the player can also manually control the cute little robot. In this mode, players can use Snippy’s scanner to see through walls, adding a unique element not seen in manySkyrimcompanions.

Haem Projects is a smallSkyrimmodding team that has also produced a few house mods for the game. Snippy itself is actually a small part of an in-development mod called Project AHO: Aetherium Hyperspace Observatory. The mod aims to add a new region, a settlement of the ancient Dwemer House Telvanni and a massive Dwemer city named Bkhalzarf.
The project will include more than twenty quests, hundreds of unique lines of dialogue, and between 8-11 hours of gameplay. Project AHO is still in development, so players will have to wait for this ambitious mod. Based on the trailers for the mod, however, it is safe to say that Project AHO will be well worth the wait.
Despite Snippy’s obvious homage to BB-8 from theStar Warsfranchise, the droid-companion feels right at home in theworld of Tamriel. The companion is lore-friendly while also adding unique visuals to the game. Most importantly, Snippy has many practical uses that can assist the Dragonborn in a multitude of ways. It’s this practicality, along with its cuteness, that makes Snippy a welcome addition to any player’s adventure.
The ‘Snippy-Droid Follower’ mod is available now forSkyrimon PC and Xbox One.
