Hide your kids and bar your doors, because the PC gamers are on the streets and they’re mad again! Bethesda has finally issued a patch forThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimand it’s not fixing anything. Instead, some argue it’s worsening the game by tying it eternally to Steam.

The game could originally be run without Steam, but the mysterious 18MB patch was discovered to put a stop to this.

The biggest problem users have is that it undoes the “large address aware” unofficial patch that allowedSkyrimto use more memory and support more modifications. There’s alreadya new LAA versionthat sidesteps this problem, but usersare still annoyedthat their first patch is basically a lockdown.

Bethesda has said that the first real patch forSkyrimshould arrive the week after Thanksgiving, so be on the lookout then.
