DC x Sonic the Hedgehog#2 opens withFlash and Sonic tracking Darkseidto Green Hill, South Island on Sonic’s Earth. The two speedsters witness the New God reaching for the“ultimate power”he’s been hunting: a Chaos Emerald. Before they confront him, Flash warns Sonic that Darkseid is a threat unlike anything he’s ever faced. In true Sonic fashion, the hedgehog responds,“Cool. I like a challenge.”With that,the two heroes race toward Darkseid, ready for an epic showdown of speed versus Omega Beams.
As they try to claim the Chaos Emerald and escape Darkseid’s grasp, Flash and Sonic tap into their peak speed. But Darkseid quickly counters with one of his most unstoppable powers: his Omega Beams. The two speedsters find themselves running for their lives as the beams relentlessly chase them. Despite outpacing the blasts, Sonic admits that he can’t shake them. In a split-second decision, they come up with a plan: Sonic will go high, Flash will go low, and at the last moment, the beams will collide, canceling each other out. The plan works,marking a rare feat for Sonic that few characters could ever claim.
