Sons of Anarchyis packed with emotional and tense scenes, but only one made Charlie Hunnam the most nervous he had ever been on screen. Kurt Sutter’sSons of Anarchyis an action crime drama TV series, and as such, it saw many betrayals, deaths, and shocking moments.Sons of Anarchyfollowed the many rides, deals, wins, and losses of the title motorcycle club, all of them through SAMCRO’s VP and eventual president, Jackson “Jax” Teller (Charlie Hunnam).
Despite the brotherhood within SAMCRO being strong, they weren’t safe from betrayals and conflict, which, more often than not, threatened the future of the club. Throughout seven seasons, Jax lost some of the most important people in his life, such as his best friend and fellow SAMCRO member Opie (Ryan Hurst) and his wife Tara (Maggie Siff), both markingturning points in Jax’s story. The latter, however, unleashed a chain of violent events triggered by Gemma’s (Katey Sagal) lies, making way for the scene that made Hunnam the most nervous he had ever been on screen.

Jax Confronting Juice In Prison Made Charlie Hunnam Nervous
The Scene Is From Sons of Anarchy Season 7, “Suits Of Woe”
At the end ofSons of Anarchyseason 6, viewers were shocked whenTara was killedat her and Jax’s home, but what made it so surprising was who killed her. Season 6 was a very tense one as Tara wanted to leave Charming with her and Jax’s sons, something Gemma wasn’t going to tolerate. In the end, Jax made a deal to surrender himself so Tara would be cleared of the murder of Pamela Toric (who Otto murdered in prison, with Tara witnessing the horrifying scene), and so they reconciled – however, Gemma wasn’t aware of this.
To Gemma, Tara was going to rat on Jax and the club, and being the impulsively fierce protector she always was, Gemma decided to stop Tara.Gemma surprised Tara at her home and attacked her, and though Tara did her best to fight back, Gemma drowned her in the sink and repeatedly stabbed her in the back with a grill fork, killing her. Seconds later, Lt. Roosevelt (Rockmond Dunbar) came in, and as he prepared to arrest Gemma, he was fatally shot by Juice (Theo Rossi).

Gemma lied to Jax and told him the Chinese killed Tara, unleashing a series of violent events as Jax looked for revenge.
Juice sided with Gemma and kept her secret, leaving Tara’s body on the kitchen floor for Jax to find. InSons of Anarchyseason 7, Gemma lied to Jax and told him the Chinese killed Tara, unleashing a series of violent events as Jax looked for revenge. Jax eventually learned the truth from an unexpected source, and to confirm it, he visited Juice in prison. Jax and Juice’s final meeting is one ofSons of Anarchy’s most emotional and tense moments, so much so that it made Hunnam nervous.
While revisiting scenes from some of his past works withVanity Fairin 2022, Hunnam shared that the scene with Jax confronting Juice in prison about Tara’s death and Gemma’s involvement was the one he had been most nervous about in his whole career. Hunnam added that he didn’t rehearse the scene and simply went away to prepare in his own way, and while director Peter Weller was delighted with his performance on the first take, they had to reshoot it as cinematographer Paul Maibaum told them the camera didn’t roll.
Jax & Juice’s Scene Sealed The Fate Of Both Characters
Neither Jax Nor Juice Survived Sons of Anarchy
Jax and Juice’s final scene together inSons of Anarchybrought out some of the best performances by Hunnam and Rossi, and it was a key scene for both. Jax learned that Gemma had killed Tara because his son, Abel, told him he overheard Gemma apologizing to his baby brother for killing her. Jax needed to confirm it before he could do anything about it, and suspecting Juice was involved, he confronted him.
Juice came clean about protecting Gemma and using the Chinese to cover her up, which further broke Jax. Jax was already struggling as Abel had been cutting himself and blaming Gemma, but it was all due to what he had learned about Tara’s death. Jax wanted to know if Abel was lying or keeping a horrible secret, and it was the latter. This finally set Juice’s death, which was going to happen anyway, but Jax promised it would be quick. In the end,Juice was killed by Tullyin prison.
As for Jax, this moment also sealed his fate, as he realized that every crime he had recently committed during his search for revenge for Tara’s death shouldn’t have happened. Among those Jax killed was Jury White, President of SAMCRO’s Indian Hills charter, meaning that he had tomeet Mr. Mayhemif the rest of the club voted for it – and that’s exactly what happened.Jax sacrificed himself at the end ofSons of Anarchy, and it wouldn’t have happened without his last meeting with Juice.
