Spider-Man’strip to Marvel’s Ultimate Universe will include a run-in with theX-Men, and Spidey isn’t prepared for it. Miles Morales, the younger version of Spider-Man, is on a rescue mission to the Ultimate timeline, and the next issue is set to find him crossing paths with some of the characters from Peach Momoko’sUltimate X-Men.
The preview forUltimate Spider-Man: Incursion #3, by the creative team of Cody Ziglar and Deniz Camp, Jonas Scharf, Edgar Delgago, and Cory Petit, reveals Miles’ surprise mutant encounter.
Momoko’s revamped X-Men are among themost powerful new Ultimate Universe heroes, and the preview indicates Miles Morales might come out the other side of a conflict worse for wear.
Spider-Man’s Universe-Hopping Adventure Introduces Him To The New Ultimate X-Men Next
Miles Morales’ journey into the Ultimate Universehas already taken him to face off with Silver Samurai, while introducing him to his counterpart as Spider-Man, this Universe’s Peter Parker, as well as Black Panther and Storm. Now, his globetrotting adventure takes him to Japan, where he is set to meet the X-Men, but as friends or foes remains TBD.
Nico Minoru andthe new mutant hero Maystormare having a meeting in the preview forUltimate Spider-Man: Incursion #3, which is interrupted when Miles stumbles upon them. Miles’ Spider-Man has some amazing abilities, but Nico’s staff and Mei’s mutant powers render his stealth invisibility powers useless in their presence.
In the preview’s final page, Maystorm uses the wind to knock Spidey out of a tree, but while they might fight at first, there’s a good chance the mutants team up with Miles before long. If they try to help Spider-Man retrieve his sister,Peach Momoko’s Ultimate X-Mencould really show off their unique abilities.
The Ultimate X-Men’s First Crossover Paints A Different Picture Of The Heroes
Momoko’s series is a gorgeously craftedtake on the X-Men as adolescentsin the Maker’s distorted universe, where Children of the Atom have become a disturbed cult. WhileUltimate X-Mensubverts expectations with its version of mutant lore, its characters’ appearance inUltimate Spider-Man: Incursiongives them a chance to let their powers loose in a more standard superhero crossover.
It’ll be exciting to see how Miles’ meeting with the X-Men plays out. While there may be a language barrier, perhaps Nico could somehow use her powerful staff to help them communicate. The UltimateX-Men’spowers have already shown upSpider-Manin their first interaction, but it remains to be seen if they’ll be enough to finally rescue his sister.
