EA and DICE made a lot of fans happy over this past weekend whenStar Wars Battlefront 2was officially revealed as part of a Star Wars Celebration panel. The debut trailer confirmed a number of additions fans have been clamoring for, such as adedicated single player experience, though there’s still a lot of details that EA isn’t sharing quite yet.
Naturally, fans took to social media to try and pry a few more answers out of developers working on the game, and one of them, Associate Design Director Dennis Brannvall, did offer up some more insight.
One of the bigger questions fans had been curious about was whether or notStar Wars Battlefront 2would feature dedicated servers for its multiplayer. Thankfully, Brannvall did confirm that the game would follow in the footsteps of its predecessor and offer dedicated servers, as DICE typically does for all of its titles.
As other questions came flooding in, Brannvall was also asked about thenew multiplayer progression systemand whether or not it’ll offer the same amount of freedom to players as the former Star Card system in the 2015 title. While Brannvall admitted that the new system is not quite on the same level of freedom, the expanded customization options inBattlefront 2will allow players to put their stamp on each class.
Finally, Brannvall also revealed that the team is looking to bring back the cooldown and reloading system for weapons inBattlefront 2.DICE is making a number of improvements on it, however, and details will be shared sometime in the near future.
Social media has been a key communication tool recently for EA and its developers, as it provides a link to fans that previously wasn’t there. In the run up toMass Effect: Andromeda’s launch,BioWare Montreal often used Twitterto keep fans up to date on smaller news items that didn’t deserve full marketing campaigns. Creative director Mac Walters, designer Ian Frazier, and even BioWare studio general manager Aaron Flynn used the social media tool to answer fan questions and provide some insight into certain things players wanted to know.
Star Wars Battlefront 2releases August 08, 2025 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
