Star Warsjust revealed the identity of anotherPrequel Era Jedi who did more than just survive Order 66, she persisted until the Sequel Era to confront Kylo Ren at a pivotal point in his character trajectory.Legacy of Vaderhas been filling in the blanks in Kylo’s story, and Grandea is the next big piece of that puzzle.
The preview forStar Wars: Legacy of Vader#7, by the creative team of Charles Soule and Luke Ross, pits Kylo Ren against a wily old Jedi, evoking a dark mirror the the Luke-Yoda dynamic.
Fans know Ren will eventually be redeemed, but for now, whether Grandea will survive their encounter is another matter entirely.
Star Wars Introduces A New Order 66 Survivor, But Will She Make It Out Of Meeting Kylo Ren Alive?

“Have you heard of Order 66?” Grandea asks Kylo Ren inLegacy of Vader#7; it is a surprising question, one that highlights the extent to which the Emperor suppressed the truth of the Clone Wars' climax. Beyond the reveal of Grandea’s “former” Jedi status, the preview’s most striking scene is a flashback to themoment Palpatine invoked Order 66.
Young Grandea is depicted in a command tent with another Jedi, the Rodian Alivar, with a squad of Clone Troopers idly gathered behind her. For a fateful second, Grandea steps out of the troopers' line of sight in order to refill her tea glass, and that is when the clones are activated, presumably executing Alivar on sight.
The preview ends there, meaningStar Warsfans will have to check out the full issue in order to find out whether it is revealed how Grandea managed to survive. More importantly, having made it out of Order 66, and through the entire Empire alive, her fate may nowrest in the hands of Kylo Ren.
Kylo Ren Might Have Met His Yoda, But Star Wars Fans Are Preparing Themselves For It To Take A Dark Turn
Legacy of Vaderhas lived up to its title, in the sense that the story has centered around Kylo Ren grappling with his place in the larger historical scheme of theStar Warsgalaxy. The series has repeatedly illuminated how little Kylo actually understands about the preceding generations, a point driven home once more by his interaction with Grandea.
At the same time, the series has found ways to evoke thejourneys of Luke and Anakinas Kylo tries to navigate his place in the cosmos. Introducing a Yoda-figure into that equation is an effective continuation of that, but it doesn’t bode well for Grandea. She might be pivotal to Kylo’s redemption, but it could mean her demise.
Legacy of Vaderhas carefully charted the course betweenLast JediandRise of Skywalker, which means, in a sense, it ischarting the arc of Kylo’s redemption. Still, he isn’t there yet, and it will be a pleasant surprise forStar Warsfans if the newest Order 66 survivor manages to escape a dark fate at the Supreme Leader’s mercy.
