It turns out thatStreet Fighter 5: Champion Editionis not coming to the Nintendo Switch, at least for now. Long-timeStreet FighterProducerYoshinori Onotook to Twitter to shoot down rumors of the port, saying “Such item does not exist right now. Thanks!”

In anow-deleted Twitter poston January 25, EB Games Canada announced thatStreet Fighter 5: Champion Editionwas being released for the Nintendo Switch and was available for preorder. While neither Nintendo nor Capcom confirmed this information, most fans took the announcement at face value. Many fans were excited by this announcement, as this would have been the first timeStreet Fighter 5would have been playable on the Switch in any form.

EB Game Canada has since issued an updatethrough twitter, saying that the initial tweet was “inaccurate and posted in error.”  The images ofStreet Fighter 5: Champion Editiondisplayed in the tweet were actually from the Playstation Four version of the game, not the Switch version. E.B also apologized for any “disappointment or confusion” caused by the tweet.

Street Fighter 5: Champion Editionhas a PlayStation 4 release date of February 14th, 2020. The game will feature 40 characters, 34 stages and more than 200 costumes. It will have most of what’s been released forStreet Fighter 5, with a few notable exceptions. The game will not include the Fighting Chance and brand collaboration outfits, or the Capcom Pro Tour DLC. Also, anything released between January 10 and February 14 also won’t be included inChampion Edition. The game will bebringing back Gil, the final boss ofStreet Fighter 3, as a playable fighter.

It’s clear that many fans were excited by the prospect of the game coming to the Switch. As of now, there is no portable way to playStreet Fighter 5, so, for now, Switch fans will have to settle for playingStreet Fighter: 30th Anniversary Edition.It’s possible that the positive reaction this news received will make Capcom consider porting the game to the Switch, but currently, there are no plans to do so.

Street Fighter 5: Champion Editionwill be available for the PlayStation 4 on February 14.
