Rachel Brosnahan:“Tell James you want to see a sequel where Lois Lane flies.”
What Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane Comments Mean For The DCU
Lois Lane Might Gain Superpowers Sooner Than Anyone Thinks
James Gunn’sSupermanestablishes a universe where the wildest parts of DC Comics lore are an everyday occurrence. While it took three years since Superman revealed his presence to the world for Lois Lane to meetother famous DCU superheroes, she teamed up with Mister Terrific, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and the Man of Steel himself in the span of a week.Eventually, her experience on the battlefield may prepare Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane to be a superhero herself.
Lois Lane has gained superpowers multiple times in the source material, though her superhero transformation is usually short-lived. Still, Lois makes good use of her abilities, which range anywhere from absurd Silver Age powers to Kryptonian physiology that puts her on par with Kal El. The most recent instance involved Amanda Waller stealing many heroes' abilities and giving them to other characters. Logically, Lois received Superman’s.
Our Take On Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane Comments
Lois Lane Has Never Gotten Closer To Becoming Superwoman On The Big Screen
Since James Gunn’sSupermanis so open in its comic book roots, it wouldn’t be strange to see Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane gain Kryptonian abilities in her second or third DCU appearance. Pocket dimensions, shapeshifting metahumans, and Superman clones are all concepts that the DCU introduced in its first live-action installment. In fact, the same technology Lex Luthor used to create Ultraman could be what allows Lois Lane to become a similar metahuman.
The only time a live-action Lois Lane has gained superpowers happened inLois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, where Teri Hatcher’s Lois receives Superman’s powers from red Kryptonite, but she adopts the Ultra Woman moniker. LikeSuperman’s Rachel Brosnahan,Superman & Loisstar Bitsie Tullochwanted to see her version of Lois become Superwoman before the series was canceled. Perhaps the DCU will finally allow a live-action Lois to fully embrace the Superwoman legacy.
