Today is your lucky day if you’re an owner of Walmart’s Onn 4K or Onn 4K Pro streaming boxes. Android 14 is rolling out right now, and this update skips over Android 13 from Android 12, bringing your device (almost) fully up-to-date.
Walmart’s incredibly popular Onn 4K and Onn 4K Pro streaming devices are popular for a reason, but software updates haven’t always been one of them. Thankfully, they are now receiving theAndroid TV 14 update. This is a pretty big deal, especially for the older 2021 Onn 4K model, which started with Android 10 and was eventually updated to Android 12. This is the second leapfrog update for that four-year-old device, which is very nice to see.
The update (URO1.250103.029.A1) itself clocked in at 0.91GB on my Onn 4K Pro, and it brought the device up to the April 2025 security patch. While the official changelog is quite brief, simply stating an update to Android OS 14, a security patch level update, and minor bug fixes, you can expect some improvements.
You won’t notice any big user-facing changes with Android TV 14, though. Some people have reported fixes to HDR10 issues, as well as Dolby Vision playing nicer with the Netflix app. But the main thing you’re able to expect is some general speed and responsiveness improvements overall.
However, as with any major software update, a few quirks can pop up. Some users have noted that the Settings app might crash in certain situations—this is also a problem with the Android 14 rollout for Chromecast with Google TV. If you find yourself encountering minor bugs or odd behavior after the update, a factory reset should do the trick.
Overall, this update is a testament to the value of the Onn 4K and Onn 4K Pro. It’s always good to see affordable streaming devices receiving software updates and not being forgotten about after they launch. The next updatemight be a leapfrog again.
