Physical editions ofAce Attorneygames are surprisingly rare, soThe Great Ace Attorney Chronicles' announcement was a new opportunity for possible boxes. Now pre-orders are open, but some fans may be left disappointed.

WhileThe Great Ace Attorney Chroniclesis now available for pre-order at online retailers, it’s also now confirmed that only the Nintendo Switch version of the game is receiving a physical edition of the game. That means that PC and PS4 users in the west will only be able to get the game digitally. Capcom hasn’t provided an explanation for the lack of physical editions, but bothPhoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual DestiniesandSpirit of Justicedidn’t get physical editions at all.

For fans of Phoenix Wright on PS4 that absolutely must have a physical edition, there is one alternative. Capcom is releasing a physical edition ofThe Great Ace Attorney Chroniclesin Japan, which should be region-free and with English localization options. There’s also a combo packAce Attorney Turnabout Collectionfor both PS4 and Switch that includesThe Great Ace Attorney Chroniclesand the originalPhoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy.

The official price ofThe Great Ace Attorney Chroniclesis $39.99. An imported version for PS4 from Japan is similarly priced, but could cost more than $20 to ship overseas. As for theAce Attorney Turnabout Collectioncombo pack, it costs closer to $70, with another $20 necessary for shipping. ForAce Attorneyfans and collectors, it’s a small price to pay for what’s become a rare offering from Capcom.

The Great Ace Attorney Chroniclesreleases July 27 on PC, PS4, and Switch.
