Every millennial woman was simultaneously captivated and haunted by the wrongful conviction of Amanda Knox, and now Hulu has made it into a gripping TV show calledThe Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. Amanda Knox is a household name, and her wrongful conviction is probably one of the most prevalent true crime cases of the 21st century.

Knox left for her study abroad programs with big dreams, not knowing that she would soon become the prime suspect in a murder case, a convicted killer, and then an exoneree. Her situation haunted women old enough to remember the case because it proved just how easy it is to be scrutinized, mischaracterized, and misunderstood as a young woman.

This story is laid out inHulu’s true crime drama, The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. The show follows her case all the way from her arrival in Perugia to her attempts to rebuild after the miscarriage of justice. The story is nothing short of heartwrenching, and they lay it out in a way that’s bound to keep viewers watching.

The Real Story Behind Hulu’s Amanda Knox Show

The extremely compelling drama, The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, follows the titular young woman’s experiences being wrongfully accused and convicted of the murder of her 21-year-old British roommate, Meredith Kercher. At the time of the murder, Knox was a 20-year-old foreign exchange student from the University of Washington studying abroad in Perugia, Italy.

Amanda Knox became the prime suspect, alongside her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito. They accused them of killing Meredith in a sex game gone wrong. Unfortunately, Knox became the subject of tabloids that sexualized her, giving her the nickname “Foxy Knoxy,” and spreading rumors.

Both Knox and Sollecito were falsely convicted, and they fought tirelessly until their charges were overturned. In all, Amanda spent almost four years behind bars in an Italian prison. Despite this, the damage was done, with a large portion of the world believing Knox was still guilty, despite the outcome of her case.

The Twisted Tale Is A Gripping True Crime Drama

Only the first two episodes of The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox are available so far, but it’s already sucked me in. Thus far, I fall in the category ofcritics who likeThe Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. I’m sure many viewers will feel the same way because it uses all the right elements to create a gripping story.

The acting from Grace van Patten, who plays Amanda Knox, is top-notch. The character’s fear, confusion, and sadness are palpable. The language barrier between Amanda and her accusers also adds to the drama.

On top of that, the unnerving scoring for the show, done by composer Jeff Russo, helps build heart-racing tension. The Twisted Tale includes a contrast between brighter visuals and grittier visuals, helping direct the tone.

In some of the investigation scenes, there’s also a subtle shakiness to the camera that makes it feel like a real perspective on the case instead of a drama. Ultimately, the creative team ofThe Twisted Tale of Amanda Knoxdid an impeccable job bringing a real-life tragedy (in many ways) to the small screen.
