Some of you will look at this screen grab, and recognize it as the work of Konjak (Joakim Sandberg). High five! He’s responsible forNoitu Love 2, and more generally speaking, some of my absolute favorite pixel art ever. The man is incredibly talented, and yet he’s not as well known as he ought to be.

The latest required-playing material to come from Konjak isThe Iconoclasts. It’s an interesting one, in and outside of the game itself. I say that because it’s arguably on par with what many consider to be the definitive indie game of recent times,Cave Story; also, it’s not finished.

In fact, the onlyhintthat this is a one-man project is its unfinished state. The Iconoclastsmay never be completed, regrettably. Konjak has sensibly been talked into putting up a donation button on his site, although he puts out the disclaimer that he’s not making any guarantees re:The Iconoclasts.

My urge to y’all would be to spread the word, if you like what you play. It seems as if he’s toying with the idea of doing smaller titles (to build up funds) before tackling something this ambitious again, which is a very sensible strategy. No matter where Konjak goes next, we’ll keep you updated.
