The Mandalorianis back to business since last week’s season 2 premiere episode dropped on Disney+ and it sure came with a bang. As one of television’s biggest series, plus the fact that it’s aStar Warsproperty, it naturally gets plenty of fanart and homages from its viewers but one recent take sure is a head-turner.
The whole space cowboy theme that surroundsThe Mandaloriangives the show a very fitting spaghetti western set in space vibe, one that’s not gone unnoticed by critics or viewers; nevertheless, Din Djarin is not the only famous space cowboy starring his own series. There’s a whole anime based on the concept:Hajime Yatate’s Cowboy Bebop.

In a fantastic effort to blend the two, French animator Malec uploaded his own vision of whatThe Mandalorianwould like after an anime spin, not only providing artwork for beloved characters like Mando, Baby Yoda and the rest of the main cast, but also adding a piece of original music to it. Here, another YouTuber by name of KronoMuzik manages to perfectly blendCowboy Bebop’siconic “Tank!” theme with Mando’s own soundtrack.
Malec’s YouTube channel has similar anime styled opening sequences for other popular shows likeGame of ThronesorRick and Morty, but none of those feel quite at home asThe Mandaloriandoes inCowboy Bebop’sfast-paced punchy jazz tempo.
Funnily enough, whileThe Mandalorianlacks a proper awe-inducing opening sequence for viewers to enjoy, instead sticking to a more subduedLucasfilmintro. It isn’t that hard to imagine it featuring something like what Malec has done. The Mandalorian’swestern roots go as deep as Jon Favreau asking his star, Pedro Pascal, to watch some Clint Eastwood westerns and Akira Kurosawa films to prepare for his role.
The Mandalorianis available on Disney+ with episode 2 of its second season premiering this Friday, November 6.
