It’s been a while since theFalloutgame franchise has delivered a major new release, but a long-awaited entry may be among a number of projects in development. The last mainlineFalloutgame was 2015’sFallout 4, followed several years later by the online-focusedFallout 76.With Bethesda’s recent focus onStarfieldand the upcomingElder Scrolls 6, it’s been largely unclear when anotherFalloutcan be expected to arrive.

On a recentFriends Per Secondpodcast episode,VGC’s Jordan Middler claimed thattheFalloutproject “that I’m sure you’re all wanting” is currently in development, as reported byComicBook. This is among"multiple Fallout projects in development." Middler clarifies that the game isn’t “far enough in along to say anything like ‘you’re going to be playing this game anytime soon.'”

Report Says Multiple Fallout Projects Are In The Works

Bethesda Could Be Planning Big Things

While this is still a bit vague as to what the game in question is,the suggestion that multipleFalloutprojects are planned or in development is significant. AFallout 3remasterhas previously been rumored, which would make sense as a follow-up toThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. This could feasibly tie fans over while they wait for an entirely new installment, as could any potential future spin-offs.

There’s also the possibility ofFalloutprojects beyond the world of video games, as Amazon’sFalloutstreaming series has been a success so far. The world of the Wasteland is adaptable, so there aren’t many hard boundaries on what could or could not be feasible in thefuture of the franchise.

Our Take: Fallout 5 Or New Vegas 2 Might Be Hinted At

Two Long-Requested Entries

There are a couple of different possibilities for theFalloutgame “you’re all wanting,” depending on whom exactly Middler is addressing.Fallout 5might be the answer for the widest spread of people, but for the dedicated fanbase,New Vegas 2is even more intensely requested. More specifically,New Vegasfans tend to want another game developed by Obsidian Entertainment with a strong narrative focus, which wouldn’t necessarily need to be a direct sequel.

Middler defused his statement shortly after by lightly joking “New Vegas 2, coming soon,” which would certainly indicate that he’s aware of the clamor for the title. With so little to go off of right now, it still isn’t worth placing too much stock in the possibility ofNew Vegas 2or anything else inFallout’s future, but it certainly provides some interesting grounds for speculation.
