Obsidian Entertainment had a huge presence during the Xbox Series X event, appearing there with three announcements. It showcased a new launch trailer forGrounded, the announcement of its next big RPGAvowed, and the first of of two DLCs forThe Outer Worlds.Titled Peril on Gorgon, the first new DLC looks mightily impressive with a ton of feature to boot.
While some details are scarce, the trailer confirms new weapons, a new area to explore, and a few story hints. Shortly afterThe Outer Worldsdebuted Peril on Gorgon, though, details such as a level cap increase, when the DLC can be started, and more were also confirmed.

The level cap increase forThe Outer Worldsis going up by 3, meaning the new max level will be 33 for the game and adding about 6-8 hours of gameplay. The main game became so popular that the ambition ofOuter Worlds' two DLChas reportedly expanded, so this may excite many fans of the game. It also comes with some new perks to unlock, an added bonus, and new flaws to further flesh out the NPC.
For those who want to check out the DLC without a max level or endgame character, though, the story DLC is not endgame content. The DLC cannot be started at the beginning ofThe Outer Worlds, but once players finish themain quests on Monarch(roughly halfway through the game), players will be able to check out the Peril on Gorgon DLC. This likely means the story here is somewhat detached from the events of the main game, and that the main game will be able to be finished afterward with the new weapons and the like.
Perhaps the biggest question now is if anew companion forThe Outer Worldsin also in the works. It seems unlikely, given its release date isn’t that far and they would have likely featured bigger in the trailer, but it’s an exciting possibility nonetheless.
The Outer Worlds: Peril On Gorgonwill be available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 9.
