After being successfully funded on Kickstarter several times over,The Shapeshifterwill also see a release on the NES in addition to the original Game Boy.

Greenboy Games’The Shapeshifterhas been soaring past its milestones on Kickstarter, starting with its modest 6,000 euros goal, which was hit in just 12 hours. Following this,The Shapeshifterbegan surpassing its other milestones, including adding two more chapters to the game, The Ice World and The Rockfall. Because backers have been so quick to reach each goal, Greenboy Games announced two more prospective chapters if a 60,000 euros goal is reached, which theGame Boytitle is well on its way towards.

The most recent goal that the Kickstarter surpassed was at 40,000 euros, meaningThe Shapeshifterwill be ported to the NES. After being fused by over 667% thanks to almost 600 backers,The Shapeshifterwill feature enhanced graphics and soundtrack on the NES system. This includes all officially released versions of the NES console, including NTSC NES, PAL NES, and Famicom.

According to Greenboy Games, the NES version ofThe Shapeshifterwill include a different Easter egg thanthe Game Boy version of the game. The first 10 players who achieve it will be rewarded the next Greenboy game for free.

Though the Kickstarter milestone has been reached, Greenboy says on the campaign page, backers won’t be able to select the NES port in the campaign. Rather, the NES version’s development will take place during 2021 and will be available at a later date. Greenboy also states thatThe Shapeshifterhas become the most successful Game Boy projecton Kickstarter.

The Shapeshifteris aiming for a May 2021 release for the original Game Boy, and is coming to the NES at a later date.
