Among the various anime headlining the summer 2025 season, few are more noteworthy thanNew Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. The series is the long-awaited sequel to 2010’sPanty & Stocking with Garterbelt, and even with just a few episodes under its belt, it’s already proving to be just as wonderfully absurd as the original, if not more.
Much of the absurdity surroundingNew Panty & Stockinghas come from its willingness to be as raunchy as possible, even surpassing the original series in that regard at times. That came to a head with episode #6, as it ended up being so raunchy and over-the-top that it might not be okay to talk about it without getting in trouble.

What Made New Panty & Stocking Episode 6 So Insane
One of the most heavily advertised elements of2025’sNew Panty & Stocking with Garterbeltwas the addition of two new characters, the angels Polyester and Polyurethane. Having new potential antagonists was one thing, but their being male meant that for the first time, the anime’s iconic pole dance transformation sequences would be applied to male characters.
Sure enough, Polyester and Polyurethane did have a raunchy transformation sequence, and between the focus on their bulging muscles and glittery Speedos that they quickly stripped out of, all while a cheesy, Backstreet Boys-esque song played in the background, it more than delivered. It all felt like an anime version ofMagic Mike, and that’s nothing but a compliment.
What helped sell things even further was how fun Polyester and Polyurethane are as characters; their snarky and conniving nature makes them perfect antagonists who are just unique enough to stand out from Scanty and Kneesocks, and with them set up to be recurring antagonists, it will be great to see how much further the show can take them.

Panty & Stocking Has Never Been So Out Of Pocket
Polyester and Polyurethane were the stars ofNew Panty & Stocking with Garterbeltepisode #6, but the rest of the cast didn’t fall far behind. Episode #6 introduced another new character named Gunsmith Bitch, and very appropriately, she was incredibly vulgar with her crass vocabulary and rejecting an offer to have sex with Panty just to pleasure herself with Panty’s gun.
Gunsmith Bitch also played a big part in the episode’s other big moment: the girls’ new transformation sequence. After upgrading everyone’s weapons to fight Polyester and Polyurethane, the series took the chance to lean into the magical girl anime parody even harder by making their outfits more revealing than ever.
Naturally, all of that was accompanied by a new transformation sequence that was even raunchier than the old one, with more close-ups of the girls’ scantily clad bodies and more provocative poses that makes the old sequences look tame. It was an insane sequence, and overall, it was the perfect way to cap off such a ridiculously raunchy episode.

How New Panty & Stocking Pays Respect To The Original Anime
New Panty & Stocking with Garterbeltepisode #6 was a masterpiece, and a big part of that comes from its parallels to the original series. Episode #6 of the original series was also a double-length episode that introduced recurring antagonists, the Demon sisters, and sure enough, it also saw an uptick in raunchiness with their own brand of fanservice.
Much ofNew Panty & Stockingis built around an attempt to just continue where the original series left off, which has been mostly successful, so episode #6 being bigger and dirtier than its predecessors was likely a deliberate callback to that being done with episode #6 of the original series, and its effectiveness speaks for itself.
Panty & Stocking’s Wildest Episode Shows Why The Anime Is So Great
Whilevulgar, animated comediesare increasingly common in both English and Japanese, almost to the point of being cliché, Panty & Stocking has always stood out for how far it’s willing to go with that sort of content, and episode #6 is proof positive that the series won’t be slowing down in the slightest.
What makes it even better is how good it looks while doing all of that.Studio Trigger animeoften boast some of the best animation of any anime, and not only is that still true forPanty & Stocking, but it does all that while being unabashedly vulgar, and that dichotomy is still great to see after so many years.
All of that also reflects how the series avoids a frustratingly common problem with TV revivals. Many revival shows struggle to live up to the original shows as they try and fail to modernize their stories while paying lip service to longtime fans, and that usually makes them largely ignored at best.
That can’t be said ofNew Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, however, as after some brief recap and tying up loose ends, the series decided to just continue as if it hadn’t been off the air for 15 years, and that somehow makes it feel far fresher than if it had tried to adapt its story to modern times.

No matter how someone wants to look at it,the wild nature ofNew Panty & Stocking with Garterbeltepisode #6 perfectly encapsulates everything great about the seriesfrom a visual, narrative, and overall creative standpoint. There’s never been such a display of wonderful absurdity, and hopefully,New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelthas much more in store.
