Alien: Earthis set to debut in a few weeks, and fans now have a better idea of what to expect from Timothy Olyphant’s Kirsh thanks to a worrying teaser. The next addition to Ridley Scott’s hit sci-fi/horror franchise is the TV showAlien: Earth, which will put a group of tactical soldiers and hybrid robot-humans up against the horrifying creatures inside a crashed space vessel.

Emmy-nominated actor Timothy Olyphant will play Kirsh, the mentor ofAlien: Earth’s main character. Though the trailers haven’t revealed much about his character, fans now know not to trust him thanks to his teaser atSan Diego Comic-Con’sAlien: Earthpanel, whichScreen Rant attended. When the cast discussed their characters,Timothy Olyphant said he “doesn’t trust” Kirsh, and he “feels like there’s something going on behind the scenes” with the character.

What Timothy Olyphant’s Kirsh Teaser Means

Viewers Need To Watch Out When It Comes To Kirsh

From theAlien: Earthtrailersalone, Kirsh seems like a fascinating character. He might not be onscreen for very long, but his striking appearance and mannerisms immediately draw attention to him.

Noah Hawley previously teased Kirsh as living “in that space between hero and villain” when speaking toEW, so we knew that he was questionable. However, the fact that his own actor doesn’t trust Kirsh says a lot. If Timothy Olyphant doesn’t even trust his own character, then audiences really should be on edge when it comes to Wendy’s synthetic mentor and trainer.

Additionally, Timothy Olyphant’s statement is a reminder that the TV show has gone to great lengths to capture the tension fromtheAlienmovies. The Alien franchise is just as much about distrusting humans as it is fearing the Xenomorph. Many characters in the movies have proven themselves to be untrustworthy and morally dubious, and their betrayals always sting. As such, it feels fitting that the Alien TV show would have its own version of that character type.

Our Take On Timothy Olyphant’s Statement

Timothy Olyphant’s Kirsh Will Be One Of The Most Interesting Characters

After hearing Noah Hawley and Timothy Olyphant’s statements about Kirsh, I can already tell he’s going to be one of my favoritecharacters inAlien: Earth, and I think he’ll be a fan-favorite too. Kirsh sounds like he could be a bit of a rogue with hidden motives and secrets. There’s something so enjoyable about watching a character who’s unpredictable.

It will be interesting to see how his untrustworthiness plays into his relationship with Wendy. I think it will go one of two directions. 1. He will use her as a pawn, or 2. He will grow attached to her, and she will be his weakness. Maybe it will even be a mix of the two. Either way, I look forward to learning what’s truly going on with Kirsh whenAlien: Earthreleases in August.
