Titus Welliver, ofBoschacclaim, has a new upcoming crime drama series that sounds like it will be a long-awaited replacement show forNarcosandNarcos: Mexico. As one of Netflix’s very first original series,Narcoswas released back in 2015 and chronicled the infamous rise and fall of the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar.
Narcosand its spinoff,Narcos: Mexico, gave rise to several prominent film and TV stars, including Wagner Moura, Diego Luna, and Pedro Pascal. While Welliver never appeared in either of those acclaimed series, he became the sole face oftheBoschfranchise, including the recently concludedBosch: Legacyand its newspinoff series,Ballard.

Titus Welliver’s The Westies Series Comes From Narcos' Creator
Welliver’s next project will beThe Westies, an upcoming crime drama gangster show that is being developed by the creator ofNarcos, Chris Brancato. It will mark the first TV collaboration between Welliver and Brancato and is expected to be one of the best new mob shows of the year, right up there withParamount+‘sMobLand.
Welliver will lead an outstanding ensemble cast inThe Westiesthat includes Oscar winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Sarah Bolger (Mayans M.C.), Allen Leach (Downton Abbey), Tom Brittney (Grantchester), and Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark).

The Westiesis based on the real-life Westies criminal gang that prominently occupied New York City during the 1980s.Welliver will play Glenn Keenan, a troubled NYPD officerwho grew up in the area. Keenan’s childhood friend, Eamon Sweeney (played by Simmons), is the head of the Westies gang, setting up an intriguing friend-or-foe dynmic between the two.
The Westies Can Fill The Void Left By Narcos & Narcos: Mexico’s Endings
There really hasn’t been a huge brand-new ongoing show similar to theNarcosfranchise with the same energy and excitement behind it sinceNarcos: Mexicoended in 2021. There wasOzark, but that premiered beforeNarcos: Mexico, and 2024’sGriseldawas only a limited series. The Westies, however, could finally fill in that gap.
The Westieswill stream exclusively on MGM+, marking the third TV collaboration between the streamer and Brancato (Hotel Cocaine,Godfather of Harlem). Brancato co-createdThe Westieswith Michael Panes, who also worked on his recent MGM+ projects.
Although Welliver isn’t entirely done with his iconic Harry Bosch character, reprising his role in a handful ofBallardepisodes, it will be exciting to see him in another lead role inThe Westies. He hasn’t done too much work outside the Bosch franchise besides as a voice actor after appearing in a 2020 episode ofThe Mandalorian, soTitus Welliverfans should be excited.
