The GAME group has 635 stores between their GAME and Gamestation locations, and that is after closing 15 stores this year in the UK. Now they expect to close many more between now and 2013.MCVreports that the firm plans to shut down more to get down to only 550 stores to cut costs.
The way they make it sound, there’s enough other GAME locations nearby that you’ll just need to move on to another one, much like how it is in many parts of the US with GameStop and EB Games locations. Chairman Peter Lewis said that 70 percent of customers that frequented closed locations moved onto another nearby store due to their successful direct marketing campaigns.
