While one was seemingly destroyed in last season’s cliffhanger ending, theUploadseason 4 trailer reveals both Nathans are still in trouble as Lakeview faces an AI overhaul. Created byParks and Recreation’s Greg Daniels, the sci-fi comedy has centered on computer programmer Nathan as he dies young and is uploaded to the expensive virtual afterlife, Lakeview.

Uploadseason 3saw the newly alive Nathan and Nora, now in a relationship, investigating Horizen’s suspicious business practices. After failing to expose their crimes, the season also ends with one of the Nates calling his mom to reveal that the other had been destroyed by Horizen, though the season ended on a cliffhanger of which was.

After garnering rave reviews from critics across its first three seasons, it was announced in March 2024 thatUploadseason 4 had been greenlitby Prime Video, but that it would end the show. It was also later revealed that it would be a four-part finale, which is set to premiere on August 25.

With just two weeks remaining until its premiere,Prime Videohas released the officialUploadseason 4 trailer. The video reveals the Nathan thought to be destroyed now exists as some kind of ghost, but that Lee Majdoub’s mystery villain has plans to overhaul Lakeview and erase everyone inside. Check out the trailer for the final season of the Prime Video comedy:

Having kept audiences in suspense for nearly two years, theUploadseason 4 trailer finally confirms that the downloaded Nathan is the one to have been destroyed by Horizen. However, while this seemed like a potential return to the love triangle between Nate, Ingrid and Nora with only one version of Amell’s character left, his ghostly existence proves there’s still a chance for both couples to stay together happily.

One of the other intriguing takeaways from the season 4 trailer is the reveal that Ingrid has gone to work as an angel and therapist for those in Lakeview. Much ofherUploadjourneyhas followed her growth from a self-centered figure to one who cares about others, and working to care for others is a meaningful step forward.

Another key reveal from theUploadseason 4 trailer is that of Lee Majdoub’s character. Though his exact role is still a mystery, it’s clear he is an executive of some kind with Horizen with big plans for how to further profit off of the already-expensive Lakeview. Even more surprising is the introduction of a new AI butler seemingly intent on killing off the prior versions of himself.

Uploadhas been, in my eyes, an overlooked gem across its three seasons, and the season 4 trailer certainly looks to be closing it out on a big note. Between a technological twist on ghosts with Nate’s disembodied spirit to Majdoub getting a scenery-chewing role very different fromSonic’s Agent Stone, I’m excited for how Daniels and co. will close the book on the show.
