I believe the multiverse is in play here rather than time travel, as the version of Peacemaker who has a gun sports a new helmet and, most importantly,the dove emblem on his chest is facing upwards.
InPeacemakerseason 1, Smith’s suit emblem was inverted, with the dove looking down. MyPeacemakerseason 2 theory is that the DCEU version of Chris has arrived in the DCU in the scene we see in the trailer, and he will kill his DCU self to take his place. That allows all his DCEU backstory to continue while setting Cena up for DCU adventures inPeacemakerseason 2 and beyond.
