Angie doesn’t tell Will about her pregnancy until theWill Trentseason 3 finale, which is part of the reasonmany fans have begun theorizing that Will is secretly the father of Angie’s baby. Assuming that he’s not, however, his hospital moment with Angie makes it clear that being a friend won’t be easy for him in this particular situation.
If Seth has to be written out of more episodes because of conflicting schedules, Will could wind up replacing him in even more prenatal appointments moving forward. There’s every chance that could happen in the future, but it still requires some work.
Will himself has admitted that he’s not in the right mental place for a relationship right now, even suggesting thatit could take as long as two years before he’s ready to begin seeing anybody again. Killing a child hopefully isn’t the kind of thing a person ever completely “gets over,” but that’s also not his only problem.
Although he speaks his mind fairly often, Will hasn’t actually let his guard down with many people aside from Angie. When dealing with his grief over the child shooting,he leans on Angie for support while ignoring Marion’s calls and eventually pushing her out of his life entirely. Will seems to have little concept of how to properly navigate grief.
It makes sense that Will would not have learned that skillset, but fully accepting that he and Angie are done for good is the perfect starting place. He and Angie will always be family in a sense, asWill Trenthas shown many times. But earnestly confronting their relationship’s new limitations is the only way he’ll ever truly move on.
