Wordleis a browser-based game currently owned by theNew York Times games site. Just about any device that connects to the internet can play this viral game, and its accessibility is part of its charm. In spite of its popularity, some don’t know the rules of the game; here’s a quick rundown of how to play.

Head to the New York Times games website to play the original version and not one of themanyWordleclones and copycats. Once there, choose a starting five-letter word with some common letters in it, like L, S, T, and a vowel or two. Type it into the site and press enter; this will make the letters change colors to give the player a clue.
Wordlefans then have another five guesses to get to the correct answer. The puzzle changes every day at midnight local time. After completing the puzzle, successfully or not, players will get access to theWordlemenu.
If using the same browser and device every day, players will get to see their guess distribution, winning streaks, total wins, total puzzles, and the spoiler-free share button to copy all those little colored squares for social media.
