Rumors that “The Man” Becky Lynch would grace the cover ofWWE 2K20have been circulating around the internet for some time, but thanks to a recent interview and the likely forthcomingreveal of theWWE 2K20cover star, the rumors have received new life. Essentially, Lynch refers to appearing on the cover as the “next step” of her career and does everything but deny the possibility altogether.

In a brief interview with Vincente Beltrán from ViBe and Wrestling ahead of the official SummerSlam 2019 event, she spoke aboutWWE 2K20, her career, and being first:

That would be the next step, wouldn’t it? Yeah, it’s always about the next step and it’s always about being the first…It’s all about being the first, so being the first woman on the cover of 2K20 would be awesome.”

Lynch seems determined to keep up her recent hot streak, which includes being one of two women to win the Royal Rumble, being one of the first women to be in the main event at WrestleMania, and being the only woman to defeat Ronda Rousey in WWE. Now, Lynch seems ready to be the first woman to be the cover star of a WWE game inWWE 2K20, and with the reveal likely coming on August 5th, she may already know one way or the other.

It’s worth mentioning that Lynch wouldn’t technically be the first woman to be on the cover of a WWE game, but she would be the first in a long time and the first solo cover star. The WWE covers transitioned from highlighting a few of the best fighters to a solo cover star withWWE ‘12, and has since featured the likes of Randy Orton, CM Punk, The Rock, John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles. If Lynch does appear on the cover ofWWE 2K20,it would be a noteworthy “first” of her career.

The last time a woman appeared on the cover of a WWE game was Torrie Wilson alongside John Cena, Batista, Rey Mysterio, and Triple H inSmackdown vs. Raw 2007, meaning she would be the first woman in 13 years as well. Either way, the cover star should be revealed Monday, either confirming or dismissing this rumor, withWWE 2K20screenshots of Brock Lesnar and Bayleyalready being revealed to the public.
