The PC version ofHumankindreleased to predominantly positive reviews back in 2021, as underlined by the fact that it currently boasts a 77 aggregate score on Metacritic. Many fans and reviewers alike praised its complex gameplay mechanics and a unique take on implementing a 4X strategy formula in a historic setting. While that premise sounds fairly similar to theCivilizationseries on the surface,Humankindis actually much more forgiving than the Firaxis-made franchise, not least because it allows players to reroll their technologies and policies mid-campaign with virtually no penalties.
The game is also much more focused on infrastructure and land development than the typical historic 4X strategy, which ultimatelymakesHumankinda radically different experience thanCivilization 6and similar titles. Overall, fans of turn-based gameplay and big-picture strategizing should find plenty of things to like in this latest Xbox Game Pass release.
The Xbox Game Pass version ofHumankindsupports achievements and cross-platform multiplayer for up to ten players. Cloud saves are also part of the package, though the game still isn’t listed as part of the Xbox Play Anywhere catalog. Nevertheless, this release adds to the already substantial array ofamazing strategy games on Xbox Game Pass.
Humankindis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
