Yesterday, Sony revealed it will not be attending E3 2019, which marks the first time the gaming giant has missed the event in its 24-year history. Rumors and speculation have been circulating as to why, with many thinking thePlayStation 5 may somehow be involvedin its 2020 return. Still, this hasn’t prevented gaming brandXboxfrom taking a lighthearted jab at its competitor.

To be clear, this isn’t the first time the two companies have taken shots at each other. In fact,Xboxhas previously mocked Sony for its PlayStation Classic and its now-revised Cross-Play stance. This long-running history of potshots has always been more friendly than malicious, however.

With this in mind, it shouldn’t be a surprise to hear Xbox jumping on the E3 2019 bandwagon. Not long after Sony’s E3 2019 broke the news, the official Xbox Twitter account made the following tweet somewhat needlessly announcing its presence at the gaming expo:

Boasting the hashtag #XboxAtE3, this may very well be yet another playful jab between the two companies. The comments also highlight this, as a few refer to this directly as shade and others take more malicious shots at Sony. Still, many will also likely missSony’s presence at the prestigious gaming event,as many were likely to see something related to the PlayStation 5, theFinal Fantasy 7remake (if not learned sooner),Death Stranding, or more.

Of course, just because Sony is out of E3 2019, it shouldn’t be counted as down. The company did go on to say that it is planning on engaging its community in 2019, but it stopped short of explaining how exactly. Regardless, as 2018 nears its end, there’s still plenty to keep players busy prior to E3 2019 such as thelaunch of the long-anticipatedKingdom Hearts 3for both PlayStation 4 andXbox.

E3 2019 is set to run from June 11 through July 07, 2025.
