Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Yellowjackets season 3, episode 10, “Full Circle.”
I lovedYellowjacketsseason 3, but I wish it answered a lingering mystery about the wilderness. Part of what made season 3 so enjoyable is that it provided satisfying answers to many of the show’s questions.Yellowjacketsseason 3, episode 6’s endinganswers whether the teenage survivors will ever encounter other people in the wilderness, and forever changes the show by introducing Hannah Finch (Ashley Sutton), Edwin (Nelson Franklin), and Kodiak (Joel McHale).

Several major mysteries aresolved inYellowjackets' season 3 finale, including who Pit Girl is, who killed the adult Lottie Matthews (Simone Kessell), and how the Yellowjackets are able to contact the outside world. Other mysteries, such as what causedYellowjackets' wilderness to screamand who sent Shauna Sadecki (Melanie Lynskey) the tape, are answered in earlier episodes. I was satisfied with most of these answers, butfrustrated by the wilderness mystery that the season leaves unresolved.
We Still Don’t Know Who Burned Down The Cabin In Yellowjackets
It Was Destroyed In The Season 2 Finale
Season 3 does not answer who burned down the cabin duringYellowjacketsseason 2’s ending. The cabin’s destruction is a major event that changes the course of the show and turns almost all the Yellowjackets against Coach Ben Scott (Steven Krueger), as he was presumed to be the one responsible. However, he makes it clear before, during, and after his trial that he was not the one who lit the cabin on fire.By the time Coach Ben dies, the true culprit has still not been revealed, and this is still the case by the end of the season.
One theory was that the"Other" Taissa Turner(Jasmin Savoy Brown) burned the cabin down, as she has a history of hurting others and doing unsafe, morally questionable things when she is in control. If “Other Tai” is the arsonist, season 3 would have been an opportune time to reveal this information, with the character’s more sinister half playing a pivotal role in both the wilderness and adult timelines. Instead, the true story behind the cabin is just as much of a mystery now as it was at the end of season 2.

Season 4 Seems Too Late To Answer This Yellowjackets Mystery
Too Much Has Happened Since The Cabin Burned Down
Yellowjacketsseason 4’s storycould finally answer who burned down the cabin, but regardless of the truth, it seems too late for any answer to be satisfying. Earlier in season 3, the teenage survivors are still angry about losing the cabin, and their anger is turned toward Coach Ben. From the arrival of Hannah, Edwin, and Kodiak to Natalie Scattorcio (Sophie Thatcher) making contact with the outside world, so much has happened since the cabin was destroyed, and it is the last thing on the survivors' minds right now.
WhetherYellowjacketsanswers the mystery or leaves it forever open to interpretation, it will be difficult to give this storyline a proper conclusion.
It is possible that no one intentionally set fire to the cabin and that it was a horrible accident. The fallout of this loss and how the characters respond to it is what ended up being most important in season 3. At the same time, all the buildup around the mystery, only for it to be an accident, would feel anticlimactic. WhetherYellowjacketsanswers the mystery or leaves it forever open to interpretation, it will be difficult to give this storyline a proper conclusion.
