Several months ago, we declaredYoshito be one ofthe most exciting Nintendo Switch games of 2018, with the side-scrolling platformer set to be a return to form for the company while also giving the titular green dragon a wonderfully colorful new adventure. Now, however, it looks like we will be waiting a while longer until the game releases, as the Big N has officially announced today that the project is being delayed until 2019.
This much was confirmed in a discussion held between Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime and Polygon at E3 2018, with the Big N head stating thatYoshi, “continues to be in development making great progress.” Fils-Aime made the delay known after it was inquired as to why the game was not playable at this year’s expo, which assuredly was a letdown for many who anticipated its presence at the show.

As of now, there’s no telling what has causedYoshi’s delay to occur, but there’s no doubt that many are disappointed to learn that the Switch will be short one exclusive in 2018, especially with thereveal trailerfrom last year showing off the fun co-op hijinks that seemed so close to coming out this year. Hopefully fans will get a concrete release date in the coming weeks and months.
WhileYoshiwas absent as a playable game at E3 2018, Nintendo definitely still has some strong titles to support the Switch in 2018, withSuper Smash Bros. UltimateandPokemon Let’s GOboth set to make solid debuts later this year. So, thankfully, fans of the Big N has a handful of solid exclusives and even third-party titles on the way to distractYoshifans that the platformer has been pushed back.

Yoshiis set to release at some point in 2019 for Nintendo Switch.
